I have now been convinced of my error. The key point is that the “adjacency” rule between a tent and a tree is not the same as for two tents, as I had assumed. If you read the rules carefully, you’ll see that no two tents can touch diagonally, which disposes of many cases that I had thought were valid solutions.

This additional constraint actually makes the puzzle much easier, whereas I had found it to be one of the hardest before.

Read the rules carefully and you’ll see that there is always one unique solution:

You have a grid of squares, some of which contain trees. Your aim is to place tents in some of the remaining squares, in such a way that the following conditions are met:

* There are exactly as many tents as trees
* The tents and trees can be matched up in such a way that each tent is directly adjacent
(horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally) to its own tree. However, a tent may be adjacent to other trees as well as its own
* No two tents are adjacent horizontally, vertically or diagonally
* The number of tents in each row, and in each column, matches the numbers given round the sides of the grid

Blackbox now works great, thanks. I’ll keep my eyes open for the tents issue.

Hi, first let me say I love this game, it’s pretty much the only one I still play regularly! One bug I’ve noticed, ever since upgrading to iOS 4.2 on my itouch 2nd gen that the mines game has seemed laggy, it takes a second or more to update that i’ve flagged mines.
One pie in the sky wish, any plans to add nurikabe to the games list?

I have “Rectangles Maniak” and it’s been stuck for weeks. This is one of my favorite games. I can’t even find it in the App store anymore to re-download. I have an iPhone 4.0. Can you help?

After many years, this is still one of my favorite apps!

I’ve had problems in the HD app with the daily challenges. The app frequently crashes on the first game I try to play. If it crashes on Untangle, I frequently can’t get it to successfully submit my score. It just says “Network Error”. Or if it submits my score, it’s not under my standard “profile”. It shows up with my same name, but doesn’t correlate my score with previous ones.
One other thing I’ve noticed, in the regular version on the games, if you tap & hold, it would switch the current option (switch the slant direction, switch from white to black in pattern, tent vs green square, etc). Would it be possible tom add that to HD?
